Stevens pass

The weather forecast wasn't promising.... but we challenged the clouds and headed north in our rented car... the distant mountains grew bigger and bigger and the sky bluer and bluer for every MacDo drivethru we passed... and arriving in Snowkomish and Sky River Inn the grey Seattle Saturday morning had turned into a lovely Saturday lunch.... the owner of the Inn turned out have his roots in Sweden, and after trying to convince me his ancestors came from "Joppland", we finally settled for Östersund (A city in north Sweden) and Lappland....Anyway, we were not here to discuss swedish pronounciation - however exciting it may be....- but to ski.... so we hit the road again, and climbed a mountain or two before finally arriving in Stevens Pass....Me on Telemarks -a rare sight.... and Fabien on surf - a loooooot of those around... great snow, great sunshine... which as the hours passed by turned into moonlight and a sky full of stars.... rather nice :-)

And Sunday.... well the weather forecast finnaly caught up on us.... and it was a rather grey sky that awaited
us as we pulled the curtains... after a few hours in the slopes - both of us on surf this time (and one of us with knee protections, wrist protections and a pillow in the trousers... it's a painful thing learning to surf....)- the snowfall got heavier and heavier and Elin more and more nervous... the idea of driving down in the snow with our summer tires wasn't too appealing... but with Fabien behind the wheel we made it all the way down....
